I’ve known Matt and Kate for a while now. Matt was the best man at Emma and Stuart’s Higgins’ wedding that I photographed a couple of years ago. We met up in October last year for their pre-wedding/engagement shoot at Southerndown beach. You can see those photos here.
I always try to encourage my customers to book a pre-wedding shoot before their wedding because it gives us a chance to get to know each other and it gives them a chance to get used to being in front of the camera. When is comes to their wedding day, they already know me and how I work. This always shows in the photographs as they are immediately relaxed and usually ignore me as I snap away.
Kate’s bridal prep took place at her parent’s house in Trowbridge and I was greeted by Kate’s father who was busy with Bacon Sarnie and Coffee duty. I stayed for a while to get some photographs of the girls getting ready, the dress, shoes and the accessories. I then left for St Isan’s church in Llanishen, Cardiff to get ready for the ceremony.
Jane was already at the Church with Matt and the boys when I arrived. When I say Church, I mean The Church PUB not the Church Church and apparently Jane had already been taking photos of the boys drinking from their shoes! This did have something to do with the stag weekend though I’m told.
After the ceremony the reception was held at the incredible Miskin Manor in Cardiff. When the sun is out this has to be one of the best wedding venues there is. There are gazillions of places around the grounds to create some really beautiful wedding photographs. The weather for Kate and Matt’s wedding was perfect!
It is always a pleasure to do wedding photography at the Mistin Manor and I’ve got a few more weddings booked in for the venue this year and next.
