Wedding Photographer Cardiff
Sally and Gareth Nicholas married in Cardiff Bay earlier in the year and they asked me to be their wedding photographer Cardiff. Sally is actually a registrar in Cardiff and has officiated at many weddings in the Cardiff area so as their wedding photographer, the pressure was on to do a professional job.
The bridal prep took place in Penarth, just outside of Cardiff at Sally’s parents’ house. All the girls gathered in their huge conservatory (lots of lovely diffused light, perfect for a wedding photographer) and took their turn having makeup and pouring the Champagne. There was even an appearance by an Olympic torch as Sally’s sister competed in the London Paralympics.
Gareth got ready in the St. David’s Hotel an amazing 5 star hotel situated in Cardiff Bay. Along with his two brothers he donned his suit whilst looking just a tad nervous. As a professional wedding photographer I have seen hundreds of weddings and hundreds of bride and groom preparations. Every one is different but generally the groom and groomsmen are a LOT more nervous than the bridal party. I suppose there is pressure on the men because of the speeches. I often find myself acting as wedding adviser/planner/psychologist in order to relax the groom. It’s in my interests as a wedding photographer Cardiff as I don’t want photographs of the groom looking nervous and gritting his teeth rather than smiling and looking forward to the wedding.
The best thing about being a wedding photographer Cardiff, is the abundance of stunning locations available to take photographs. St David’s hotel is the flagship hotel of the bay and towers over Mermaid Quay, with its amazing restaurants and bars. It’s fast becoming the place to be in South Wales with thousands of people flocking there on the weekends. When the sun sets the views around Cardiff bay can be spectacular.
